When decorating the interior of a bedroom, a variety of decorative elements are used. Frescoes occupy a special place among them.

Peculiarities

First, let's figure out what a fresco is. A fresco in its classical sense was an artistic painting made on raw plaster containing lime. After drying, a strong calcium film formed on the surface of the image, which did not allow the drawing to crack and crumble. Nowadays, it is customary to call any images on walls or ceilings frescoes. The method of their application does not matter.

The main purpose of the fresco is room decoration... With its help, you can set the mood and character of the interior, emphasize the status of the home owner and his refined taste.

Frescoes are also used to visually correct a room. If you choose the right color scheme, image and size, you can visually make the space wider, higher, or, conversely, narrow it.

If we talk about the placement of the fresco in the bedroom, then most often it is placed on the wall at the head of the bed. Motives are chosen natural or antique, sometimes abstract, but always calm, in pastel colors.

Vivid images full of small details are not suitable for this room.

Varieties

Let's talk about what frescoes are.

  • First of all, it is necessary to mention the progenitor of all modern techniques for the execution of frescoes. about applying the image by hand to raw plaster. Of course, nowadays rarely anyone does this, due to the high cost and laboriousness of the method. However, such frescoes can be found in elite houses.
  • Based on self-adhesive film... The principle of creating such a fresco is as follows: with the help of modern digital equipment, the selected image is transferred onto a dense non-woven fabric with an adhesive applied to it on one side, using a special sand paste for this. Then, to mount the picture on the wall, the protective layer is removed from the base, the canvas is glued to the surface.
  • Non-woven base. The principle of making the panel is the same as in the previous case, but non-woven material is used as a base. It is characterized by greater density and thickness. Therefore, the image turns out to be of higher quality and similar to an old wall painting. The painting contains artistic chips, patina, cracks, and even some relief.

It is not necessary to level the walls for such canvases.

  • On canvas... A very rare variety. Frescoes on canvas are made only by hand, which is why their creation turns into work on a real masterpiece, and accordingly, it is not cheap. Products of this kind are popular in Spain and Italy; the best artisans-manufacturers live there. In our country, it is almost impossible to find a specialist in frescoes on canvas.

Materials used:

  • lime;
  • river sand;
  • cotton cloth;
  • natural dyes;
  • adhesives.

The plaster is prepared according to a special recipe. Next, an image is applied to it, after which it is artificially aged. And only then the painting is transferred to the canvas, where it is treated with a protective compound containing wax. Such a fresco is glued to the wall with wallpaper glue.

  • On a rigid basis. A plastic or ceramic surface is taken to make a painting. The master paints it with his own hand using acrylic paints.If you want to create a fresco "antique" on the base, first scuffs, chips are made, and only then the image is superimposed.
  • Mosaic... Another expensive and time consuming variety. On the wet plaster applied to the wall, the master fixes the pieces of the mosaic in a certain order.
  • Wallpaper... Of course, we mean photo canvases depicting naturalistic paintings in different styles. They are also called fresco collages.

Styles

If you decide to decorate your bedroom with a wall mural, but you are not sure which image will best suit your interior, focus on the most popular options:

  • landscape;
  • seascape;
  • floral motives;
  • reproductions of paintings by famous artists.

If your home is made in a certain style, listen to the following recommendations:

  • a loft-style mural can depict graffiti on a brick wall;
  • romantic Provence will decorate the lavender field, rural landscape;
  • in the bedroom in the art deco style, pick up a fresco-reproduction, for example, "The Birth of Venus";
  • Baroque is primarily an antique theme, floral prints;
  • modern - spectacular intricate floristic compositions, plots of art paintings;
  • high-tech - abstract images in the spirit of modern art;
  • scandi - large plant prints on a light background, stylized landscapes.

A children's bedroom can be decorated with a mural depicting cartoon characters, fairy tales and comics.

Examples in the interior

Let's secure the material with a photo selection.

  • The golden-beige color scheme of the classic bedroom is "diluted" with a complex plum shade and complemented by a wall fresco, which very harmoniously combines an old building with masonry and lush flowers that adorn it.
  • The next option: a modern room, made in white-lilac-purple tones. The fresco behind the headboard looks like an abstract combination of brush strokes, but if you look closely, you can see a lavender field on it.
  • A fresco depicting a couple in love perfectly suited for a matrimonial bedroom.
  • Very nice modern option. The color scheme of interior details - curtains, bed, bed linen, bedside tables - is in perfect harmony with the fresco, showing large stylized leaves of tropical plants.
  • Minimalistic panel - the opened bud of a white peony.
  • Another floral motive - large flowers in muted colors, as if descended from a painting by a medieval artist.
  • Unusual golden mural with a convex pattern, as if it gives a reference to the ancient Egyptian culture.
