Ideas for curtains on eyelets in the bedroom
Eyelet curtains combine practicality, ergonomics and aesthetics. Such an option of fastening allows not only to beautifully decorate the window opening, but also to comfortably service such curtains.
Types of eyelets
Window curtains on grommets differ from all others in a special option for fixing the cornices. In this case, the upper strip of material is compacted, several successive holes are formed in it and rings are attached. Subsequently, they are strung on the cornice. Such a fastener has its undoubted advantages:
- curtains do not break or deform even with prolonged use;
- universal fasteners - it is suitable for both thin tulle and fabrics with a strong structure;
- when moving the curtains, the matter does not stop;
- due to the presence of rings, it is not difficult to remove the canvas from the cornice.
There is, perhaps, only one drawback - it is impossible to make multi-layer curtains on one cornice.
Various types of eyelets can be found on sale. They may differ:
- by the size of the inner hole - small up to 3 cm and large 4 or more centimeters;
- in shape - round, triangular, square and oval mounts;
- according to the pattern, shade and texture.
Additionally, eyelets can be decorated with leather elements, rhinestones and gilding. They are produced with a shiny or matte surface.
When choosing mounts, it is important to pay attention not only to the decorative appearance, but also to the technical and operational parameters. They directly depend on the material of manufacture.
Metallic
Metal eyelets are the most practical option. They can serve for several decades, while maintaining their aesthetic appearance. Besides metal organically combines with the styles popular today, high-tech, minimalism and loft. The most practical are stainless steel rings, they are rust resistant and easy to wash. However, their cost is quite high, therefore, in conditions of a limited budget, it is better to give preference to eyelets made of steel and brass - in this case, the fasteners must be removed before washing in order to preserve the original appearance.
Wooden
Wood eyelets look quite stylish. However, in free trade, they are rare, and custom-made production will come out in a "tidy" amount. Some manufacturers offer budget softwood counterparts, but such fasteners are usually short-lived. Moisture deforms the wooden rings, so they must be removed before washing.
Plastic
The most widespread are plastic fasteners. They are distinguished by an affordable price and the widest choice of colors. Curtains on such fasteners do not scratch the cornice and do not make an unpleasant noise. The eyelets themselves retain their integrity upon contact with moisture, so they can be washed together with the main fabric.
Curtain design options
The rings can be attached to different types of curtains.
Curtains
Blackout blackout curtains often become the main touch in the design of the window and the entire bedroom. Due to the use of eyelets, an assembly is formed on the fabric - this gives the fabric an elegant look, especially if the curtains are made of silk or satin. Such curtains in the bedroom are usually complemented with tulle. Correctly selected, they visually increase the height of the ceiling, and the aligned vertical lines add decorative and authenticity to the room.
Curtains
For those who want to create an atmosphere of comfort and coziness in the bedroom, it is worth making a choice in favor of curtains. Their main task is decoration. These curtains are sewn from soft, translucent fabrics that become a highlight of any room. Curtains keep well on rings, creating an overall impression of lightness and romance.
Filament curtains
Filament curtains fit well into any interior; they can also be attached to eyelets. By the way, such a solution is resorted to not only for window decoration, but also for room zoning.
How to choose the interior?
The most common bedroom options are plastic rings. They are distinguished by affordability and a wide shade palette. On sale you can find models from obtrusive nude colors to imitation of metal and even exotic leopard color scheme. This allows the owner of the room to choose rings to match the curtains or, on the contrary, create a stylish accent.
For curtains in a restrained color palette, accessories in a neutral range will be the best solution; a solution with gilding or silver looks quite stylish. And to add a touch of luxury to the interior, they resort to decorating with rhinestones. For curtains of bright colors, preference should be given to rings of restrained laconic tones.
For light fabrics, small rings are usually chosen, tulle, viscose and organza are attached to them.
For denser curtains, it is better to give preference to massive fasteners. This solution will minimize the risk of deformation under the weight of the web.
How to hang?
Sewing curtains and hanging them on eyelets is not difficult. This work includes several steps.
- A canvas of the required size is laid out on any flat horizontal surface. The upper edge is folded over two widths of the tape and ironed with an iron.
- A tape is laid in the formed bend and again ironed through a layer of cotton fabric. It is important to ensure that the hot melt glue does not leak onto the outside of the curtain. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to experiment in advance with pieces of tape and determine the optimal degree of heating of the iron.
- At a distance of 1-2 m from the fold along the top, the curtain is sewn on a sewing machine.
- The side and bottom edges are processed similarly. The resulting workpiece is laid out on the table and marked for eyelets.
- Using sharp scissors, cut holes according to the marks obtained so that they are 2-3 mm smaller than the inner diameter of the rings.
- After that, it remains only to fix the rings themselves. To do this, both halves are fastened on both sides of the canvas and slightly pressed. If the connection is correct, you can hear a soft click.
The product is ready for use.
Beautiful examples
Eyelet curtains in the bedroom give the room a sophisticated and elegant look and at the same time laconicism and simplicity. There are many options for combining shapes, textures and shades.
- Curtains on rings, sewn from expensive fabric with gilded trim, harmoniously fit into the oriental and Moroccan design.
- The cornice and eyelets in a dark wood shade are effectively combined with velvet curtains, bringing the motives of the Gothic interior into the room.
- For the avant-garde, creative contrasts and unconventional line geometry will be appropriate. However, plain curtains on floor-length eyelets are also suitable - they will become a background to the rest of the bright details.
- If you decorate a bedroom in the Baroque style, then it is better to give preference to curtains with fringes. The cornice and eyelets should be gilded to emphasize the richness and pomp of the entire furnishings.
- For lovers of country and Provence, it is better to use wooden eyelets or imitating the texture of wood. In this case, the canvas should be cotton or linen. A tandem like this will bring a rustic atmosphere to the room with comfort and simplicity.
- Fans of modern ideas can turn their attention to curtains that match the color of the carpet. In this case, the cornice and rings should be of the same color or transparent - this will create a monochrome effect. Window décor requires a minimum of wrinkles, so the total number of eyelets should be kept to a minimum. This solution will emphasize geometry and visually reveal the space.
