How can a shirt be folded?
Every man has a shirt in his wardrobe. It is worth noting that such a thing looks good only when it is perfectly ironed. Of course, you can store it on a hanger in the closet, but sometimes you need to take already ironed shirts with you on the road. To maintain the ideal state, various ways of folding things have been invented. If you follow the simple rules, you can even get an ironed shirt out of your suitcase after a long trip.
Preparation
Before you fold the shirt, it is imperative to prepare it. The first and most important step is washing. To do this, you need to carefully inspect the product for stains, as well as study the information on the label. Most shirts are recommended to be washed at 40 degrees. You shouldn't add any bleaching products.
You can use a stain remover if needed. If the cuffs and collar are heavily soiled, special cleaning agents can be used. If there are starched parts, do not use a brush to clean them. This leads to deformation of the material.
It is not recommended to spin after washing. It is best to hang the clothes on a hanger until they are completely dry. This greatly simplifies the ironing process. Before ironing, you can spray the shirt with water from a spray bottle. It is important to set the correct temperature on the iron in accordance with the material of the product.
In this case, it is preferable to iron things of a dark color from the seamy side. To eliminate creases and small creases, you can use the steaming mode. They begin to iron the shirt from the collar, then there are the left and right shelves. After that, you need to iron the back of the product. The last to get under the iron are sleeves and cuffs.
Immediately after ironing, the thing must be dried, for which it is left on the hanger.
How to fold correctly?
Before folding a men's shirt after the preparatory stages, it must be sure to fasten it with all buttons, including cuffs and collars. This will keep it in the best possible condition. It's a snap to fold a long or short sleeve shirt beautifully. In addition, there are various ways from which you can choose the best one.
With long sleeve
There are many ways to fold long sleeve shirts. However, only four of them are most popular.
Method 1
It consists in the fact that the shirt is laid face down on a hard surface, for example, on a table. After that, the sleeves are alternately tucked to the middle of the product along the back of the thing. Then you need to tuck the sleeves again, only this time in the opposite direction. Thus, they will be parallel to the fold line of the side of the product.
Further, starting from the bottom end, the item is folded twice. The last step is to fix the collar so that there are no folds and folds.
Method 2
The process begins by placing the shirt in front of a table or other hard surface. On the midline of the back is cardboard or something rigid A4 format. It should be laid right next to the collar. This seal will become a stiffener. It is along its border that the side of the shirt is tucked. The sleeve must be folded three times so that the cuff is on top. In this case, you cannot go beyond the limits of the part that has already been tucked up. Perform all actions for the second side in the same way. After that, tuck the bottom of the shirt up to the border with the cardboard. Tuck the product back up so that it completely covers the cardboard.
Now you can remove the stiffener from the folded item, after which you should straighten the cuffs and collar, and also check that no folds are formed on the surface of the product.
Spread them out with your hands if necessary.
Method 3
Like the first two methods, it starts with the front of the shirt on a hard surface. Now you need to visually divide the product horizontally into 3 equal shares. The lower part is folded back, one of the sidewalls is in the opposite direction along the midline of the shoulder.
As for the sleeve, it must be folded three times to the border of the folded part. Similar actions must be performed for the other sidewall and sleeve, after which you need to bend the second third of the shirt so that it reaches the part with the collar. In conclusion, you need to check that everything is smooth and beautiful.
Method 4
The product should be laid with the front side down. On the left side, you need to hold the point at which the shoulder touches the collar. Now bend the left side of the shirt. It is important that the fold line passes through the held point. When you reach the opposite side, you need to tuck the sleeve so that its fold line is parallel to the fold line on the left side. Similar actions are performed on the right side. Then you need to bend the bottom of the shirt.
When finished, it is important to straighten the collar, cuffs and folds (if any).
Short-sleeve
Short-sleeved shirts are even easier to fold than long-sleeved shirts. For the perfect look of the product, it is enough to know just a couple of ways.
Method 1
The buttoned shirt is laid back up. The sidewall is bent to the center line. The sleeve is folded in the middle of the shoulder seam. Similar manipulations are performed on the other side.
Then the product is folded 2 times, starting from the bottom. At the last stage, you need to turn the shirt over and straighten all the folds and folds.
Method 2
On a face-down shirt, fold the left edge towards the center line. Then return the sleeve to the front of the product. In this case, it is important to ensure that the cuff remains flat, without folds. Do the same with the right edge. After that, tuck the thing twice, starting from the bottom.
Quick options for any kind
Sometimes, when going on a long trip, you have to take too many things. However, they are not easy to pack so that there is enough space for everything you need. In addition, there are situations when you have to get ready very quickly, and there is simply no time for a long and careful folding of the shirts. Therefore, there were craftsmen who invented methods for quick, and most importantly, compact collection of shirts and more. For example, the people of Japan have created the perfect way to fold things, not only for transportation, but also for placing them on small shelves. This option is called roll folding. The buttons must first be fastened on the shirt. At the same time, the buttons on the cuffs and neckline remain unbuttoned.
After that, the thing is neatly stacked with its back up. Visually, it is necessary to draw a parallel to the side seam from the middle of the shoulder to the bottom. Now the edges need to be folded towards the middle. Then the sleeves unfold in the opposite direction. A fold is made at the height of the palm from the bottom of the product. At the last stage, the shirt is rolled up from the bottom to the collar. In this way, even several shirts can be stacked at the same time. To do this, they must first be placed on top of each other. If desired, you can place parchment paper between the items. The result is a fast, compact roll that does not take up much space.
Another easy way is to fold the shirts in half. To do this, put the buttoned thing with the front side down. Then, along the midline, the shirt is bent so that both sleeves match. Now they need to be bent in the opposite direction to the line along which the fold passes. After that, the shirt must be tucked up twice, starting from the very bottom. With the help of a mechanical device, the shirt can also be quickly and beautifully folded.... This method significantly saves time, allowing you to cope with a complex task in a few seconds. At the same time, the product is so evenly and neatly folded that not even every professional is capable of this. Among the advantages of the method, it is also worth noting that the received items are obtained in the same size. It is convenient for both transportation and storage.
First, the device is laid out, on which the shirt lies with its front side. The side parts of the mechanism must be bent to the center line, and then the product must be folded in half. To make the shirt crumple less when folded, and the collar does not deform, you can use special bones. Typically, they are metal or plastic plates. Their main purpose is to provide rigidity to the corners. After the item is laid with the front part on a hard surface, you need to insert the bones, and put a cardboard insert the size of an A4 sheet under the collar. Further, the shirt is folded in one of the ways discussed earlier (in addition to roll folding).
Advice
To keep your shirt looking perfect even after being folded, there are some tips to follow. For example, after ironing, let the things cool down well. In the event that the shape of the buttons is too embossed, then each of them must be wrapped in paper (preferably soft). For travel, you should opt for a suitcase with a rigid frame, since things will better keep their shape in it.
If the shirts are made of delicate materials, then they should be placed on top of other items. Otherwise, they will be crushed and, as a result, dented by heavier products. When stacking shirts in a pile, they must be positioned with a jack. So, on the collar of one shirt they put the opposite side of the other, and so on, until the whole pile is collected.
When transporting things in a backpack, it is recommended to put them in rolls, so they are least of all wrinkled. For suitcases with a small height, it is convenient to use one of the Japanese folds. The already folded shirt is folded several more times, and then laid vertically with the collar up. Also, for better transportation, each shirt can be wrapped in thick paper.
It is advisable that no empty space remains inside the bag. Better to fill it with towels or napkins. If there are internal straps, they must be used. This will prevent items from moving around during transport.
It is recommended to fold products by type of material and color.
Before putting on a folded shirt, hang it on a hanger in the bathroom and turn on hot water. In 15 minutes of such a procedure, it will again be like after steaming. However, this method is not suitable for linen fabrics. If slight wrinkles are formed on the shirt, you can moisten them with water and then dry them with a hairdryer. There are also special aerosols that are enough to spray on the thing, stretch it a little and leave it to dry completely.
To prevent the buttons from leaving marks on the back of the shirt, you can put cardboard inside. In addition, such a rigid insert will additionally protect the product from deformation. When traveling frequently, it is convenient to use a garment bag. This cover allows you to keep even delicate fabrics ironed. The fasteners on the case can be in the form of a zipper or Velcro.
It should be emphasized that the size of the garment bag completely coincides with the parameters of folded shirts.
