A shirt is a wardrobe item that is essential in almost any case. No man can do without him. Even if he works at a construction site or in a service station, he definitely has at least a couple of dress shirts. Well, and those representatives of the strong half of humanity, whose labor activity takes place in the office, simply cannot get dressed without a couple of dozen different shirts.

Today's shirts for men are more diverse than before. This also applies to color schemes and cut. The collarless shirt is a relatively new invention in men's fashion. Such models look non-standard and fresh, emphasizing the awareness of their owner in modern fashion trends.

Peculiarities

Most of the men's shirts have a typical cut, differing only in the degree of fit. Slim fit models sit strictly on the figure, tightly fitting to the body, and they need to be worn outside. Regular straight shirts are still tucked into trousers, with or without a tie.

Of course, a model without a collar will no longer wear a tie. Such shirts either have a V-neck, without fastening to the very top, or the buttons on them go right down to the throat, turning into a kind of stand-up collar.

The model with a stand is called a band or "grandfather's collar". The folding part is completely absent, there is only a solid part-stand. Previously, such shirts were worn only as work clothes, but now they are quite an office option. There is also a slightly rounded version of this stand called "mandarin". It is quite close to the neck, but should not dig into it. The strip of fabric is softer than the “grandfather collar”.

As for the V-neck options, there is no collar at all. At the same time, they have all the other details of the shirts: buttons in a row, cuffs and the required number of darts.

Models without a collar can be both office and casual. Therefore, you can choose the shirt you want without any problems. However, you need to understand that collared shirts are not always combined with classic trousers, jackets and cardigans. They will require other options to create harmonious and stylish combinations. It is just as important to take care of your shoes, as shoes that go with dress shirts and trousers may not go well with mandarin collars and chinos. They may require loafers or sneakers.

Materials (edit)

Like any other shirts, collarless options are sewn from a variety of materials. It can be as warm models made of wool, dense coarse calico, knitwear, denim, and light: cotton, polyester, silk, linen.

There are even translucent models, however wearing them is recommended only for those who have something to brag about in terms of muscles. And, of course, the translucent fabric obliges you to have a lot of courage in terms of wardrobe selection.

Given the fact that most men remain conservative in clothing, transparent and translucent shirts are the choice of an extremely small audience, and even then mainly in the summer.

Taking into account the trend for natural fabrics, linen summer models without a collar in the "polo" cut are very popular - both short and long sleeves. In the office, eco-lovers can wear more traditional cotton shirts with a button closure.

Color palette and prints

Just like shirts with a regular turn-down collar, models without it are suitable for any shade and print.

It all depends on where and with what you are going to wear the shirt. Office options are more restrained in color, usually muted tones:

  • blue;
  • steel;
  • Gray;
  • beige;
  • mossy green;
  • Bordeaux;
  • teal;
  • blue;
  • powdery pink;
  • sand.

Office prints can be varied too.

  • "Goose foot" or "dog's fang" - this is a print in the form of a broken cell, it can be both small and very large. For men's shirts, a small one is usually used.
  • A thin strip is like a contrast - for example, black and white, or not, when two shades of the same color are used. For example, blue and dark blue or beige and chocolate.
  • Geometric small print: squares, triangles, polka dots.

    As for the shades used not for the office, they can be absolutely any. First, all shades of white: from snowy white to milky and ecru. Secondly, pure bright colors are extremely popular: yellow, red, emerald, cornflower blue. Thirdly, complex colors like Marsala or Electrician are also very much in demand.

    Prints in non-office collarless shirts are quite plentiful.

    • Cell: tartan, guinem. The pattern can be either sustained in contrasting colors (red-blue or red-black checks), or consist of shades of the same color (beige and brown, lilac and lilac).
    • Paisley or "oriental cucumbers". This pattern, despite its pretentiousness, is very much in demand among men who know a lot about clothes. For all its brightness, the print is quite versatile; it can easily be combined with jeans or a classic suit.
    • Floral motives. Many men reject such patterns as overly feminine, but metrosexuals calmly include models with a print in the form of flowers in their wardrobe, expertly mixing them with chinos with an open ankle or Bermuda.
    • Fantasy print. The modern men's clothing market offers shirt models with a wide variety of patterns - from classics to kittens and cacti. The latest options are designed for people with a healthy sense of humor, not afraid of irony and self-irony.

    How to choose?

    Choosing a shirt without a collar is the same as any other shirt - by trying on.

    It must be remembered that such models require a thorough study of the image as a whole, in contrast to classic shirts, which are combined with almost any classic trousers. Therefore, if you are not ready to spend a lot of time trying to create a complete and harmonious image, it is better to stay on other models.

    Another difference from classic models is brightness and originality of models without a collar. With them it is very easy not to get into the trend and look not fashionable, but funny. Use the ready-made options offered on the web to develop your taste and style.

    What to wear with?

    Shirts with a stand-up collar go well with a blazer or linen cardigan. If the model is made in a classic style and in one of the traditional "shirt" shades, it is suitable for any occasion.

    As for shirts with contrasting trim, you need to carefully select both trousers and top.

    You should not wear checkered trousers for such a model, but they will fit well with a plain one. Only the cage should be medium in size: not small and not large, and also not too contrasting. The choice of shoes should also be approached correctly - not every shoes are combined with checkered trousers.

    A shirt with a mandarin collar will fit a jacket with the same collar, however, one should fully maintain the image and try not to overdo it with ethnicity. Otherwise, you will turn not into a fashionable man, but into a follower of Mao, and this is not at all what you were striving for. You can also wear these shirts with a mac.

    As for the V-neck models, chinos and loose-fitting straight jeans are suitable for them. But if you work in an office, this shirt will only be an option for Friday. Open models are best reserved for relaxation or spa use.If you have strong vegetation on the chest, you should think about products of a different cut.

      Blouson-style crew-neck shirts work well with skinny jeans. However, the proportions of the figure should be taken into account so that the top does not turn out to be much more massive than the bottom. Such models of shirts are more suitable for men with a sports figure.

      To choose outerwear for such shirts, you need to think over the combination of not only the style, but also the colors and textures of the fabric.
