Repair of balcony door hinges

Today, plastic balcony blocks have no alternative. They are comfortable, beautiful and durable. However, even the most reliable things can break. Today we will talk about how to quickly repair the door on the balcony with your own hands and how to lubricate the hinges.

Breakage of hinges on a balcony or loggia door requires repair. Before starting work, it is necessary, first of all, to assess the complexity of the upcoming repair and the reality of its elimination with your own hands.

For example, if a door creaks, then the reason may be:

• unregulated awnings and clamps;
• rusty fittings;
• insufficient or lack of lubrication.

Having established the reasons, they are eliminated. Adjust the awnings according to the instructions. Rust is treated with a special compound, for example WD - 40. After half an hour, the corroded oxide is wiped off with a cloth, and the parts are lubricated. Any mineral oil can be used for lubrication. But it would be more correct to purchase a special lubricant. It is better to draw it into a syringe.

Lubrication is carried out according to the following algorithm:

• first, the upper hinge caps are removed;
• a few drops of oil drip onto the opened parts of the hinges;
• for even distribution of oil over the parts - the frame is opened and closed several times;
• after the squeak disappears, wipe off the excess oil and replace the plugs.

Such manipulations are easy to perform on your own. In this case, the main thing is not to postpone them, because, in addition to the annoying squeak, there is an active wear of the hardware parts.

With prolonged operation of the balcony door, over time, it begins to sag, the hinges can be deformed or even come off. Its restoration is carried out by adjusting or replacing the loops. To perform this work, you need the following tools:

• screwdriver;
• hammer;
• punch;
• pliers.

The work is carried out in the following order:

• remove decorative details;
• using a punch, knock out the axis;
• dismantle the lower and then the upper hinges;
• remove the door;
• replace broken parts or fasteners.

When replacing defective parts, it is advisable to use the same fittings that were installed earlier: this will ensure complete coincidence of parts and holes. The tightening of self-tapping screws must be done not with a screwdriver, but manually, in order to prevent thread stripping in the plastic.

The main load from the door leaf falls on the door hinges. They fix it in an upright position, provide the ability to rotate the structure when closing and opening and the tightness of the pressed parts. In the manufacture of balcony blocks, the hinges are adjusted at the factory, this eliminates the need for additional adjustment during installation. After some time (with frequent use of the door leaf), the hinges sag, and the door begins to touch the door. To eliminate this malfunction, the corresponding parts must be tightened.

• To move the door vertically, it is necessary to adjust the lower hinges. This can be done by removing the decorative cap from the top, which will give access to the screw located inside the awning. Using a special hex wrench, tighten the screw by turning it clockwise and loosen it by rotating it in the opposite direction.
• Moving the leaf to the left or right side is carried out thanks to the horizontal screws of the lower and upper hinges, located parallel to the door. When the screw of the lower canopy is rotated clockwise, the lower part of the door will be pressed against the hinge, and the upper part will be removed. By turning the bolts in the opposite direction, a reverse displacement of the blade is achieved.

Plastic balcony blocks are quite reliable. The most vulnerable part of them is the hinged fittings, this is also typical for the mosquito net.

Most often there is a displacement of the door plane. In the event that the lower part of the door clings to the catch, it is necessary to adjust or repair the hinges of the balcony door. The algorithm for such work is described above.

If the balcony door is strongly pressed from below, and a gap remains on top, the clamping force is adjusted using the pins. Eccentrics of a small size are located in the end part of the blade. They can be turned using a special key or pliers, changing the angle of the eccentrics and the force of pressing the door to the jamb.

The reason for the insufficient density of the door leaf may be a damaged seal. Such a breakdown requires its replacement.

When if the doors leading to the balcony have scratches, they are removed with "liquid plastic".

Principle of operation:

• the canvas and scratches on it are washed out with a detergent;
• scratches are degreased and treated with a cleaner;
• the damage is filled with plastic and leveled with a rubber spatula.

Most of the problems are fixed by oneself. When the loops are completely pulled out, the help of specialists will be needed.

In the process of frequent use of the plastic sheet, the hinges on the door experience the greatest load, leading to wear of the parts. If it becomes necessary to change the hinges completely, then you need to start by looking for new parts. They must match the old ones. This will help avoid the need to drill new holes and use existing ones.

Replacement of fittings begins with the removal of the decorative cover.
