Glazing of the loggia 3 meters
In small apartments, the owners strive to use every meter - they purchase transforming furniture, make built-in shelves. Another way to get 3 meters more living space is to clean the balcony, glaze it and insulate it. This is what this article will be about.
Overview of options
Loggia with an area of 3 squares is the most common option in Russia. Most often, glazing is resorted to when repairing a balcony in a Stalinist building.
There are 3 types of loggia glazing:
-
cold;
-
semi-warm;
-
warm.
The peculiarity of cold glazing is the use of aluminum structures and single-chamber double-glazed windows.
Plastic windows with one chamber have their own advantages over other types of double-glazed windows.
-
This structure has only two glasses instead of four, so its weight is much lighter. This allows you to significantly reduce the load on the balcony and save on strengthening it.
-
Transmits 70-80% more sunlight.
-
The single chamber is filled with argon instead of air, which makes the windows excellent in keeping warm.
-
The price of a single-chamber double-glazed unit is on average 20% lower than with two cameras.
Unfortunately, there are some drawbacks here.
-
A balcony glazed with such a glass unit has low noise insulation. Any sounds from the street will distract from work, if the loggia is equipped for an office, or from sleep, if there is a small children's room there.
-
Such glasses have a greatly reduced resistance to heat transfer, therefore, when glazing in this way, the temperature in the room will be only 5-7 degrees higher than outside. For use in the summer, this is a great option, but in winter you cannot rest on such a balcony.
The second type is semi-warm glazing, in which plastic window profiles with a sliding mechanism are used. This technology does not provide complete sealing, so the temperature on the balcony will be lower than in the room.
The main advantages of this method:
-
plastic is lighter than aluminum, so the load on the plates is much lower;
-
good sound insulation is provided;
-
sliding windows take up little space, which is especially important if the balcony area is 3 sq. meters;
-
drafts and dust from the street are excluded;
-
low cost of materials.
There is only one drawback in this case - even with high-quality insulation of the loggia, it will not be possible to get a comfortable living space.
Warm glazing is the best option for a 3-square balcony. The insulating glass units used for this type of installation have two or three chambers with a low degree of emission. This design provides complete insulation and a comfortable temperature even in winter.
Warm glazing is used if:
-
it is necessary to enlarge the room by connecting it to the balcony;
-
I want to equip a space for rest or work on a small loggia, make a warm and comfortable children's room on the balcony, something else.
Advantages:
-
insulation of the balcony;
-
excellent sound insulation;
-
lack of drafts, moisture and dampness;
-
the ability to install upholstered furniture on the loggia without fear of ruining it;
-
the guarantee of use is 25-30 years.
It is important to take into account the disadvantages of this design:
-
high cost of materials;
-
complexity of installation;
-
heavy weight, requiring strengthening of the balcony slabs;
-
reducing the amount of sunlight passing through the window.
Before starting work, you need to decide on the glazing option. It can be one of several types currently in use.
-
Panoramic. Especially popular with lovers of spacious rooms. A lot of natural light and a stylish balcony - this is how panoramic structures can be characterized. However, it is not so easy to maintain a spectacular appearance, you will need regular cleaning inside the loggia, as well as the help of a master to clean the windows outside. The price of such a pleasure is quite high, so it is worth carefully weighing all the advantages and disadvantages.
-
Wooden frames. Glazing with wood is quite rare, although these works are carried out with minimal cost and in a short time. The basis of the frames is high quality wood, treated with an anti-mildew and mildew agent, as well as with refractory compounds.
-
Aluminum profile. This design is resistant to external influences and low cost.
-
Metal-plastic. The advantages of metal-plastic windows are an attractive appearance and a service life of at least 20 years. They are sound and heat insulated, so that the balcony can be used as a living space.
Step-by-step instruction
First of all, you need to purchase all the necessary materials and tools: double-glazed windows, window sills, self-tapping screws, ebbs and other trifles.
The main work begins with the installation of plastic window sills. - they fit on the parapet, after which, at a distance of 3-4 cm from the outer edge, it is necessary to drill holes into which self-tapping screws are screwed. The corners between the windowsills are closed with plugs.
The next step is to install the sheathing for siding: wooden bars are fixed vertically on the outside of the parapet with self-tapping screws.
Finishing strips must be attached to the wooden posts, into which the siding is then inserted. It is important to consider that the siding must be cut to length and width in advance. Fastening method - with self-tapping screws to the racks and to the end of the window sill.
All seams from the inside must be foamed. It is advisable to use a professional pistol for this.
After that, you need to attach the ebb and install the frames.
Installation is performed according to the instructions.
-
First, long, then short glazing beads are removed, and measurements are taken. During measurements, at least one glazing bead must be in place.
-
The glass unit must be installed at an angle of 40-45 degrees to the lower profile. First, the lower part starts up, then the upper part rises. It is important not to touch the metal corners.
-
Installing glazing beads in reverse order.
-
Window adjustment.
Subsequent arrangement
After glazing the balcony of 3 meters, it is necessary to insulate it and sheathe it from the inside, and then you can design a new room. A balcony and a loggia, even of such a small size, can be of many benefits, depending on how you arrange this space.
-
One of the most common options is placing cabinets and shelves on the balcony in which you can store things.
-
The loggia can be used as a place to relax by placing small armchairs, ottomans or even a sofa there. You can hang a small TV, set up a small table.
-
Plants are indispensable in an apartment - by placing them on a warm balcony, you don't have to worry about the lack of sunlight.
-
The loggia can be used as a bar if you make a bar counter from the windowsill. In this case, it is important to correctly arrange the room - the lighting and posters will perfectly fit into the interior.
-
Three meters is just right for a study. On such a balcony there is enough space for a table and a small chair. You can place small shelves for storing books and documents.
