Sizes of men's socks: what are they and how do you know?

Socks are an indispensable attribute of any person's wardrobe, but for men this is especially important, since they can add comfort in any weather and protect against various external factors. Of course, the standard models are classic black, gray, white and brown socks, but the modern assortment offers a variety of options: multi-colored, with prints and original decor. That's why every man can choose for himself not only beautiful products, but also comfortable ones, choosing the right size. This is very important because comfortable wearing will help to avoid a possible allergic reaction to the material or problematic use.

In order to find the most suitable option, it is worthwhile to correctly determine the size of the shoes using special dimensional nets presented in European and Russian standards, which, just as in the case of choosing clothes, simplify the fitting process.

Buyers of men's socks often do not pay the necessary attention to this, but take the first option they come across. But when choosing, it is worth considering many factors, for example, the quality of the material of the product, as well as the correct size. Otherwise, the selected models from low-quality raw materials will quickly lose their original appearance, they will stretch, tear or slide. All this is due not only to imperfect material, but also to the wrong choice of size.

The simplest method for determining your size can be done at home. This requires measure the length of the foot: you can take a sheet of paper, step on it, mark the extreme points of the heel and fingers with a pencil. The resulting segment must be measured using a regular ruler.

Another popular method is to measure the size of the shoe by the insole. It is suitable for those cases when it can be taken out of the shoe, because this can not be done in all models. If possible, just take out the insole and measure its length with the same ruler.

But simple use of the table will not be so effective without other selection criteria. After all, the result of how well the socks will fit depends not only on the size chosen, but also on the material, product shape, density and other factors.

Now socks are made from various raw materials: cotton, wool, polyamide, rayon, bamboo fiber, nylon, cashmere and even silk. The most common option is, of course, cotton. It perfectly permeates air and creates good thermal insulation. It does not require special care, it is highly durable, hygienic and can be presented in different price segments.

Some of the most expensive options are socks made from noble fabrics: cashmere, silk and their mixtures. Such socks will not be practical for everyday wear, because they wear out rather quickly under conditions of constant friction, but they provide a very comfortable, soft and warm contact with the foot, and therefore will be a good choice to combine with a classic suit for a special occasion.

Different manufacturers use their own manufacturing technologies, and therefore even products of the same size from the same material can sit on the foot in different ways and show themselves in socks. The best option in this case would be to consult with the seller, who will suggest a good model and select the right size. But it is recommended to try to purchase products from different manufacturers and understand from your own experience which ones are better.

Now many companies make models universal, which are suitable for 3-5 sizes. This is handy for larger options, as additional tension can help if the size is incorrect. But when buying socks for sizes 36-41 for a small foot, you may be faced with the fact that after a few uses the material will stretch and slide.

It is worth remembering that you should not rely solely on the number obtained, since not all materials have the same strength and elasticity, and therefore, for some models, you will need to take a larger size. For most synthetic models, it is sufficient to measure at least one leg, as they will stretch well.

The standard addition of elastane or other synthetic materials is considered indicator of 5-30%.

If the buyer prefers only natural materials and dense strong samples, for example, 100% cotton, then it is better to measure both legs, and then round the number up, so that there are no uncomfortable sensations. This is especially true after washing, since many models can shrink and fit too tightly to the leg, causing a feeling of skin pulling.
