And you will also need metal corners, anchors, hinges. Do not forget about paint or antiseptic composition (the product is needed to protect the wood from excess moisture). It is also necessary to take care of the upholstery fabric, choose a synthetic winterizer. Foam rubber may also work (it is better to take material 100-50 mm in thickness). You also need a special glue designed for working with wood.

And you may also need an electric jigsaw, a saw (circular), a hacksaw (small teeth), a special stapler with wide staples and a puncher (a drill will be required).

A plan is needed in the beginning. To do this, we draw an approximate design plan, put all dimensions on the diagram. The width of the chest sofa is calculated depending on the size of the wall. The height is chosen depending on your desire, most often the ergonomic qualities of the future sofa affect the height. The average height in this case is about 400 mm. The depth of a sofa of this design can be from 60 cm to 100 cm.

Before you start creating your own sofa, you must carefully process all the wooden parts with special means. This must be done so that in the future moisture does not get inside the wood and spoil it. After that, from plywood or beams, you need to cut out parts that have already been drawn in advance in the plan. At the very beginning, the frame of the future sofa is assembled. For this, the cut out parts are connected with self-tapping screws. And also corners are used. Plywood sheets need to be screwed onto a wood base.

When the frame is ready, you need to think about padding. For the back and for the seat, you need to cut out sheets of foam rubber. Foam rubber sheets should completely coincide with the dimensions of plywood sheets, but have about 20-30 mm at the edges (this is necessary for future curl under the bottom of the frame). If an additional layer of comfort is needed, then another sheet of foam rubber is cut out. Then we proceed to the upholstery. To do this, unfold the upholstery fabric on the floor, lay the already cut pieces of foam rubber and plywood on it. From above, the plywood sheet must be pressed with something heavy. Then the upholstery is wrapped and fastened to the structure using a stapler.

When the backrest and seat are completely ready, you can screw these parts to the sofa frame. The backrest and the vertical panel are connected by corners. The seat can be attached to the frame with loops.

The inner drawers can be pasted over with foil, oilcloth or cloth. The boxes can be divided into specific sections. To do this, it is enough to place small partitions in the boxes.

The front panel may have doors. The doors can slide open or swing open. Behind them will be hidden space inside the structure, which is usually divided by a horizontal shelf. The facade can also be equipped with several drawers (the drawers must fit tightly into the niches).

The structure must have ventilation inside. To do this, you need to make several holes on the sidewalls.

A ready-made sofa can be placed on the balcony. If necessary, the furniture can be fixed against the wall. Anchors are perfect for these purposes.

When creating a plan, structural measurements in disassembled form are of great importance.In the plan, it is necessary to take into account the disassembled configuration of the sofa, and calculate the dimensions in the assembled state.

The frames of folding models are made of beams (50x50 mm or 40x40 mm). Elements are also attached with metal corners. Chipboard can be used to equip pull-out drawers. After fixing all parts of the frame and arranging the boxes, you can tackle the soft elements of the structure. To do this, the foam rubber is attached to plywood sheets, and only then covered with upholstery. The upholstery fabric is attached to the structure. A construction stapler is also used for these purposes. For convenient placement on the folding model, it is important to create a separate soft element that will cover the drawers. The parts are attached to the frame and the sofa can be placed in its rightful place.
