Inflatable single mattresses
Inflatable single mattresses are a great choice if you love outdoor activities. They are lightweight, durable and don't take up much space in your backpack. Or if a guest comes to you, and he has nowhere to sleep, then a single inflatable bed with a pump will help out in such a situation.
What happens?
An inflatable single mattress is a universal thing, it has a lot of advantages.
- Does not cause allergic reactions. The appearance of bedbugs and dust mites is excluded.
- It is very easy to maintain. For care, only soapy water and rags are needed.
- Ease of handling. Plug the pump into a household outlet or car cigarette lighter - and in 2 minutes the bed is ready. Inflate with a hand or foot pump for longer.
- Light weight - 5 kg for household beds and 2.5 kg for tourist beds.
- Compactness when folded.
- The price is around 5,000 rubles.
But there are also disadvantages:
- low strength - the product will not withstand the claws of pets;
- large volume and many seams make it difficult to find punctures;
- on narrow models, you can turn over in a dream;
- service life is only 2-5 years.
The same air mattress cannot be used for hiking or sleeping in the room. Due to differences in design, this is inconvenient and sometimes unsafe. Therefore, there are several types of mattresses.
- An inflatable bed (mattress) has thick walls and many internal partitions. It has a slight orthopedic effect. Often such a mattress is self-inflating, an electric pump is already built into it. This is convenient if you need to quickly equip a sleeping place. But such furniture is heavy and bulky. But it is the most durable.
- Tourists are lighter and more compact due to the fact that they have thinner walls. Usually comes with a carrying bag. Sometimes they are equipped with a built-in pump. Convenient, because you will definitely not forget it. Other models need to be pumped with a separate hand or foot pump. This means that you can take a break away from civilization.
- Beach. They have several compartments that inflate independently of each other. It's safer this way. If suddenly one compartment is punctured, then you will still stay afloat. The pump is never built into them.
- Automobiles fit into the back seat of the car and turn it into a comfortable place to sleep. But they need to be tried on.
- Transformers. They are laid out in a sofa and an armchair.
- Children's models are similar to adults, but smaller in size.
But the statements that the orthopedic mattress is a marketing gimmick. Yes, it is convenient, but it is not recommended to use it all the time. In special medical models, there is constant air circulation.
To prevent the "hammock" effect, rigid partitions are made inside ordinary mattresses.
- Longitudinal are the simplest and most common. They are found on budget models.
- Transverse is safer for health. But swimming on such a mattress will be more difficult, because the water resistance is higher. Like the longitudinal ones, they are made using Beam and Wave Beam technologies. Beam gives a ripple effect, and the Wave Beam surface is smoother due to internal perforations.
- Cylindrical, made using Coil-Beam technology. They are stiffer, evenly distribute body weight, and the hammock effect is reduced.
- Air-flow system. It is two-tier. The lower layer consists of longitudinal partitions, and the upper one, on which a person lies, of tape. This prevents the mattress from swaying and makes it harder to fall off.
- In the Dura Beam, the baffles are elastic strings. They are durable and will not stretch. And if a few of them break, the mattress performance will not decrease. Therefore, such models are very durable.
All these data are indicated in the product passport. As well as other characteristics such as the highest load.
- A standard single mattress can hold up to 120 kg, a double one - up to 200 kg.
- For particularly durable products, the load is 250 kg.
Before buying, check the characteristics with the seller. But what can be clearly seen is the material of manufacture.
Materials (edit)
The very first models were made of rubber. They were not reliable and were extremely inconvenient. The pillow and bedspread were constantly sliding out, and even before storing they had to be sprinkled with talcum powder. Modern products are made of PVC - polyvinyl chloride. It is durable, moisture resistant, and resists wear and tear well. And so that the linen does not slip, different coatings are applied to it.
- Waterproof vinyl, or flock. It is tenacious and elastic, like velor to the touch. But at the same time it gets dirty easily, it is poorly cleaned and tanned at low temperatures. If you bought such a product in winter, then at home do not unfold it immediately. Wait 2-3 hours, otherwise the material will crack.
- Plastic. It is smooth and easy to clean, but there is a risk of slipping off during sleep. Suitable for guests for a couple of nights.
- Dense polyethylene and low-quality plastic. They tear easily and are very slippery. Buying such is not recommended.
Cover the mattress with a cotton blanket before bed. Or others, always made of natural material. Then the bed will be "breathable" and you will not sweat. And so that the linen does not slip, and the bed is comfortable, you need to decide in advance on the size.
Dimensions (edit)
To lie comfortably, the bed must be 160 cm long and 76 cm wide. This is required by GOST. But this is not enough for an ordinary person. Manufacturers know this and try to make their products more comfortable. They produce large mattresses.
- JR Twin. Its length is 191 cm, and its width is 76 cm. This is not enough for an adult. If you suddenly move, you can easily fall. But for children and adolescents, such a mattress will be just right.
- Twin. Dimensions - 191x99 cm or 203x102 cm. It is considered one and a half, although it is more suitable for one adult.
- Double. Despite the name, it is better to sleep on it alone. Dimensions - 192/203 cm long, 137 cm wide.
- Queen, King. These are already double mattresses with dimensions from 152 mm in width and 203 cm in length. At the same time, King is wider. For one person, a king size bed is provided.
If you want to swim, then the product should be narrow. This way it better overcomes water resistance. But do not forget that the seaworthiness of such mattresses is low. Be vigilant when swimming. If you choose a model for sleeping, then it is better to take a mattress wide and high.
- Tall models are also called inflatable beds. They have a distance to the floor of 40-50 cm. This is good for domestic use - no drafts are terrible. And they look aesthetically pleasing. And some of the models can be expanded into a full-fledged sofa. But for travel, such mattresses are not suitable - heavy and bulky. Other options are needed here.
- Low mattresses are up to 22 cm high. They are much more mobile. They are bought for outdoor recreation, picnic or water, as a guest bed. They are multi-chamber - they contain at least 5 air compartments. It is both convenient and safe. These types of mattresses are the most common. And deservedly so, because they are universal - they are suitable for spending the night in a tent, and in the back seat of a car. And they pump up quickly. And to make you even better, manufacturers come up with more and more new "chips".
Design
A regular rectangular mattress is too simple. There are more interesting options.
- Beach models stand out for their unusual shapes and bright colors. It is both beautiful and safe. You will definitely be noticed on the water surface. But using them for regular sleep is not recommended - they are too soft.
- Bathing mattresses can be connected to boats. But lying, swaying on the waves, is no less comfortable. Sometimes they have cup holders.
- Special mattresses for sleeping are equipped with bumpers. This way you will definitely not roll over.
- And some go straight away with a pillow.You can sleep on them in any room. And not only at the wall, which is needed to support an ordinary pillow.
It can be difficult to choose among the variety of models. But we will help you with this.
Criterias of choice
Decide on the purpose and design, because now you know everything about mattresses. Buy only quality products. Among the worthy manufacturers, we can distinguish:
- INTEX;
- Campingaz;
- BESTWAY.
There are other options as well. Be sure to read the reviews before buying.
Decide on the purpose.
- For sleep, models of restrained blue or gray are suitable. Or you need to cover the colored mattress with a blanket.
- For outdoor activities, it is better to take bright models. It is easier to deploy them in the tent in the evening.
Tourist options have thin walls that are pierced with stones and glass. Therefore, choose models with a reinforced double bottom. Also, before use, clear the area of sharp objects or cover it with a thick tarpaulin. Pay attention to the valve. This is the weakest point in almost all air mattresses. Choose models with a threaded plug rather than a plug. They hold the air better.
Good mattresses come with accessories.
- A bag. Needed to carry the product. But it is undesirable to store them in them, otherwise cracks will appear at the places of permanent folds. Advice. To prolong the life of the mattress, do not fold it neatly into the bag when carrying it, but stuff it anyhow. Then the material folds in random places and cracks less.
- Pump. Use only the complete one. The powerful car will pump the mattress, and the seams will come apart on it. It is easier to pump with a mechanical foot pump than with a manual one.
- Repair kit. Includes patches and glue. The glue line needs to be elastic, so it is not recommended to use random glue. Please note that clips are not included. And without them, it is impossible to repair the product. Make sure you have clamps or vise.
And follow the rules of operation. Keep the product away from fire and sharp objects. Don't stand and jump on it. Then the inflatable mattress will last 4-5 years.
