Rubber fishing suits are a very important component of any angler's equipment. Even with a range of modern materials available, knowing how to choose a rubberized fishing suit is very important and rewarding. There are one-piece suits with boots and other models - and it is important to understand their specific features carefully.
Peculiarities
Fishing is a great way to pass the time. However, such an activity requires special equipment. This is a rubber fishing suit. When you put it on, you can safely go into the icy water, walk through the reeds and sedge.
It will be possible without any problems to move away from the coast for a decent distance, to wade a river or a shallow lake.
Getting wet and hypothermia in a fishing suit made of rubber (if the suit itself is of high quality and used correctly) are excluded. Sufficient protection is provided regardless of the time of day.
Important: in especially extreme weather conditions, you should not rely only on rubber protection. In such cases, it is more correct to stay at home and not risk it.
The important properties of this costume will also be:
- relatively free movement in shallow water bodies or between their separate areas, the ability to calmly fish in the water near the coast;
- easy overcoming of areas of the bottom covered with sharp or slippery stones (if there are special boots in the set);
- the ability to fish in a shallow body of water without frightening its inhabitants with a boat or raft;
- reliable protection from the fierce wind;
- lack of interference when walking;
- protection from most injuries, leeches, snakes, predatory fish, waterfowl parasites.
Important: no suits, including rubber ones, provide protection against beavers. It is necessary to carefully avoid the habitats of these rodents, the attack of which can be fatal even for strong adult men.
Do not use chemical protection suits either. They were used in the past due to the extreme scarcity of the assortment. But today such models of clothing are not sufficiently protected from moisture, they are bad from a hygienic point of view.
Varieties
All currently produced fishing rubberized suits are divided into several basic types. They differ in the material used. PVC-based semi-overalls are usually supplied immediately with boots, that is, in one piece. Polyvinyl chloride will retain water, but also disrupt gas exchange. Prolonged stay in such a suit threatens diaper rash, rashes, and sometimes there is a risk of hypothermia (when fishing for more than 2 hours in a row).
Experienced anglers most often use rubberized neoprene-based suits. They keep warm much better.
In such clothes, you can safely fish even at a water temperature of about zero degrees. But neoprene models are not good at removing steam to the outside. You can find options with and without built-in boots.
Nylon rubberized suits are generally sealed. They are praised for their softness and relatively low weight. The movement of the fishermen will not be constrained. But, despite the ability to withstand severe loads, the lack of tissue respiration will be a serious disadvantage. Innovative membrane modifications do not have such a disadvantage, but they will have to be expensive to pay for.
How to choose?
As with other clothing, you should be guided by your own measurements. It is important to know what will be worn under the fishing outfit.
The most vulnerable points, as usual, will be seams and zippers, so they should be given special attention.
If a semi-overalls are bought, then belts are useful, precisely fixing its fit. Straps without adjustment can hardly be called a normal solution, since adjustment for oneself is impossible.
Of course, a breast pocket will also be a useful option. Wading boots, unlike wading boots (even with special insoles), are not comfortable enough, the legs in them sweat. It is necessary to contact an officially operating large store with a good reputation. The rubberized fabric should be dense, any punctures, cuts, tears are unacceptable.
In the process of trying on, they wave their arms several times, as if throwing a fishing rod, then raise them up, crouch, and finally take wide steps.
The more pockets the better. The presence of wide straps that do not squeeze the shoulders is encouraged. The design and appearance are selected at your discretion.
If all this passes without discomfort, and nothing hinders the movement, there is no doubt about the accuracy of the sizing.
