The most popular models of hats for men include the following.
- Bandana. This is a scarf with which a man protects his head from the sun's rays. Usually this style is preferred by guys or representatives of certain subcultures (rockers and bikers).
- Caps. Kepis are very popular among men. They are sewn in a wide variety of ways. Here are just a few of them. The baseball cap is a summer version of the cap that came from sports. Thanks to the extended visor, it protects the face from the sun's rays. For cooler weather, there are warmer options in denser fabrics.

In the conditions of cold Russian winters, it is difficult to overestimate the relevance of fur hats.
- Ushanka. This headdress was also worn by our grandfathers and great-grandfathers. It is distinguished by a round bottom, as well as turn-down details around the circumference - it is they that make up the island of the cap. This model reliably protects the head from the wind and warms up in cold weather. At one time, the style became so popular that today fashion designers have offered many more modern options, including knitwear and knitted products. Earflaps are worn without tying.

And, of course, one cannot but dwell on such a classic men's headdress as a hat.
These products are represented by the widest assortment. The most famous models include:
- gangster hat - This is a classic model with brim and dents on top of the crown, as well as on the sides;
- bowler hat - such models are made small, with rather neat margins and a hemispherical crown;
- fishing hat - this accessory is made of light fabrics, mainly straw or olive color;
- straw hat Is a classic summer model. Used by men in the warm season, its main task is to protect the head from the sun.
- tweed hat - such a model is a bit like a gangster, but it has narrowed fields, and the crown has a trapezoidal shape.
How to determine size?
The size of a man's headgear is calculated depending on the parameters of the head circumference. It is very easy to find out the necessary data. To do this, you only need a centimeter tape. Her head is wrapped so that it passes a couple of centimeters above the ears and runs through the protruding part of the back of the head. The resulting value will correspond to the head circumference.
If you don't have a flexible meter at hand, you can use an ordinary thread and a wooden ruler.
Please note that when taking measurements, you do not need to tighten the centimeter too much, since the data in this case may turn out to be incorrect.
Some men add a few more centimeters to the resulting value - this should not be done, since the headdress should sit tightly on the head.
For information: the average size of the head circumference of an adult male varies from 54 to 65 cm, the resulting value will match your size. So, if you measured the head circumference and got 56 cm, then you have 56 sizes of caps and hats. However, this will be true only if we are talking about the Russian table.
In European countries, as well as in the United States, other designations are adopted.
Materials (edit)
A variety of materials are used to make hats. They must have increased strength and the ability to hold their shape for a long time. These include:
- wool;
- leather;
- suede leather;
- straw;
- felt;
- silk;
- fur.
Hats are usually made from tweed.
These fabrics have special requirements. They must be of the highest quality, otherwise they simply will not be able to keep the style that is given to them.
In the production of warm hats, additional materials are also used - they go to the lining. Usually it is fleece, cotton, natural silk or faux fur.
Of all the variety of materials presented in modern industry for the manufacture of hats, silk, woolen, linen and cotton fabrics with additions of synthetic and artificial fibers, as well as knitted fabrics and non-woven components, are most often used. To create fashionable hats, materials of the most different thickness, rigidity and degree of density can be used. Hard fabrics are used to create crisp hats. But looser fabrics are suitable for models with soft shapes.
Cotton fabrics are more suitable for summer time.
For sewing sports headwear, woolen, denim and knitted materials are used, leather is popular.
Cheap items are made from synthetic fabrics. This is not the best choice - in such headdresses, heat is practically not retained.
Colors and styles
For a long time, classic men's hats were made mainly in restrained shades and were presented in black, white and dark blue models... However, today everything has changed - as a result of numerous scientific studies it has been established that bright colors are associated with safety in people. Hats in yellow, red, light green and orange are well visible not only in the daytime, but also in the dark. That is why men who go in for speed skating and skiing, as well as snowboarders, prefer caps in saturated colors.
In the event of any problem, an athlete with such a bright hat will be easier to spot in the snow and, accordingly, he will receive help faster.
Other bright shades are also widespread: purple, burgundy and blue. Despite their richness and depth, they belong to everyday colors. Such hats are good for walking along the city streets, but when it comes to official events and business meetings, it is better to opt for black, brown, gray and beige colors. Hats in these colors are considered universal, as they look good both with a sports jacket and with a strict men's coat.
Modern hats are made in a wide variety of styles. Classics are invariably relevant. This area includes a bowler hat, a homburg or a felt hat.
A hat with earflaps is more practical in cold weather, since it covers the neck well and fits quite tightly to the ears. Most of the models are made in black and gray colors.
Knitted winter hats can come in a wide variety of styles. So, models of a restrained palette harmoniously fit into a strict business image, and hats in rich shades are more likely to be attributed to sports.
Hats decorated with pompoms, fringes and other decorative elements are very popular among young people - they belong to the casual urban style.
