Literally from the French language, the word harness means "to carry a sword." Even in ancient times, warriors adapted to carry edged weapons, hanging them from belts thrown over their shoulders. This piece of military equipment, of course, has already been greatly modified and improved, is still present in army uniforms, as well as in the ammunition of police, firefighters, customs officers and security officers. In general, a harness is a necessary attribute for everyone who carries weapons on duty and not only. In addition, now the harness has become a very fashionable part of men's and even women's clothing.

The harness changed with the development of military art, technology and uniforms. At first it was just a belt with a loop, into which blades and swords were threaded. Then, when firearms appeared, the belts took on a more complex form, since it was necessary to attach to them covers with a gun, musket or pistol, and a little later - a holster with a pistol, dagger or other combat knife. Sometimes the weapon is attached from both sides to the sides.

The development of personal weapons has changed, of course, and the type of harness.
