Men's suspenders: types, how to choose and wear correctly?

Men's suspenders are an invention that goes back to the medieval era. Then they were called "podochi", and their main function was to support the wide trousers of ordinary workers. Time passed, and now suspenders have become not only an indispensable thing in a men's wardrobe, but also a bright accessory that favorably emphasizes the image.

There are several types of braces that differ in appearance and functionality. They are used for the following clothes:

• pants;
• shirts;
• socks.

The trousers that are now presented were invented in 1820 by Albert Thurston and patented by the American writer Mark Twain. At first, it was an element of workwear, but, having appreciated its convenience and ease of use, the designers came up with models that turned the straps into a bright accessory.

Unlike a belt that tightens the pants in the waist area and creates a feeling of interference when sitting, anchors keep the fabric suspended. The skin continues to breathe, the blood flow is not disturbed, the peritoneal area is not tightened. Suspenders are 2 belts that look like separate belts in the front, attached to the waist of the trousers, and at the back - connected in an X- or Y-shape. There is an even less common option when the straps are attached to the back with a horizontal bridge.

Suspenders can be wide or narrow. The standard formal size is 3.1-3.8 cm. Stylish new items have a width of 1.27 cm to 2.54 cm.

The ribbons are made entirely of stretch fabric or dense material with elastic bands at the ends. Suspenders can be made entirely of leather or can be a combination of various types of fabrics with leather inserts.

The color of the handpieces ranges from classic black and white to burgundy, blue and brightly variegated shades. For fastening with trousers, buttons, rivets or clips are provided. If these are elastic bands, respectively, buttons should be sewn on the pants.

Sock suspenders were introduced around this time. Presumably, English aristocrats were the first to use them. Gentlemen immediately appreciated the functionality of the thing, thanks to which the socks kept their shape and did not slide down untidy folds. The novelty was immediately noticed: in Russia, the USA and Germany, many fans of the stylish and practical accessory appeared.

The design is similar to the trouser straps, but is more modest in size and comes in pairs. An elastic band or strap is attached to the calf or thigh, strips extend from it on both sides, at the end of which clips are placed. They are attached to the socks.

Aid for shirts is a modern invention of the Chinese... If at first they were perceived as a curiosity that can be easily dispensed with, now they are an indispensable part of the wardrobe. You can wear clothes without it, but it keeps the shape of the shirts perfectly. Those who have used these braces have already appreciated their undeniable advantages.

The reason is simple: the shirt tucked into the trousers all the time strives to get out from the belt, and it endlessly has to be corrected. With suspenders, the problem is solved instantly: until the end of the working day, the shirt sits neatly on the figure without causing any inconvenience.

The design is an elastic band or belt that is attached to the thigh, and several strips with clips extend from it, clinging to the shirt from the front, from the side and from the back. There is another interesting variation on shirt suspenders. These are ribbons that are attached to the shirt at the top, and to the socks at the bottom. An important condition for this is the ability to adjust the length. This should be provided for all 3 types of braces.

High-quality and stylish suspenders are not necessarily made of elastic material. Often they use thick cloth or felt material. At first, bold experiments should not be carried out - there is a high risk of getting into a mess and looking ridiculous. It is better to choose solid or striped pads that suit different colors of clothes.... Be sure to draw attention to a combination of colors for a tie, bow tie and handles - they must match in shades or be identical.

Suspender trims (ribbons) are chosen of the optimal width. Too narrow curl, too wide - create a feeling of interference with movement. Silk straps are short-lived, and made of rough materials (leather, denim) they are wear-resistant, but they should be selected very carefully, taking into account the style of the bow.

The first models were made individually and had a length suitable for the customer. These are now the standard sizes for which there is a possibility of adjustment. If between a belt and suspenders the choice falls in favor of the latter, it is better to immediately buy trousers without loops. They are not necessary and will look like unnecessary details.

Men who prefer a strict business style in clothes combine suspenders with shoes and a tie. Colorful suspenders with embroidered prints look good on plain shirts, and for printed outerwear, it is better to choose plain suspenders. When using suspenders for socks and shirts, they are usually worn under trousers. But, for example, some men wear bright and neatly made socks with shorts, and such an ensemble looks quite harmonious.

Men's suspenders are good because they become a profitable wardrobe item when forming a wide variety of men's images. Hipster, hipster, dandy - the image depends on the characteristics of the character, and the help is an accessory that puts the last points. For example, colorful bow tie and suspenders chosen in the same style, combined with a bright plain shirt, give the image boldness, mischief, pleasant charm and immediately attract attention. Putting on trousers is easy when you already have the skill:

• ribbons cling to the back of the pants;

• fasten loops, buttons or clips at the front.

Other points to pay attention to:

• do not use old braces - they are stretched, do not retain their shape well, and accordingly there will be no sense from them;
• choose an accessory depending on the situation - use classic options for a business meeting, brighter and bolder colors are suitable for parties and discos;
• try not to buy braces with toothed clamps - the fabric of shirts, socks and trousers will quickly deteriorate, because the teeth will gradually break them;
• pay attention to the degree of tension of the ribbons - with a strong rise, the pants will stretch in the groin, open the socks, and with a weak one, they will sag ugly, closing the shoes with folds;
• do not wear suspenders with a belt;
• adjust the position of the buttons and zippers on the trousers - they should be in line with the buttons on the shirt;
• to combine things correctly - for clothes made of delicate fabrics, anchors made of thin materials are suitable, for coarse fabrics - dense suspenders (for example, leather);
• in the absence of experience, buy black and always fashionable hangers for a start - this neutral color suits many elements of the wardrobe.
